Govt employees told to surrender NSFA cards

IMPHAL, 8th Apr: While informing government employees who are in possession of National Food Security Act (NSFA), 2013 cards to surrender the same within seven days, the government has warned defaulters of facing disciplinary action under CCS (CCA) Rules, 1965 and Section 52 of Disaster Management Act, 1965. An office memorandum in this regard has been issued Wednesday by special secretary (home) Gyan Prakash. Around 88.56 percent of rural and 85.75 percent of urban population of Manipur are covered under NSFA and data of the Union CAF & PD ministry indicates that many government employees of the state have been issued NSFA cards and getting rice under the scheme at the cost of eligible households. As per report of the ministry, many government employees are getting rice they are not eligible while many eligible households are deprived of their entitlements, the office memordandum said and informed all government employees concerned to surrender their NSFA cards at the earliest to avoid disciplinary action.
