Police detain 332 violators, collect Rs. 30,100 fine
IMPHAL, 7th Apr: The state police on Tuesday detained 332 people, seized 168 vehicles for violating the lockdown protocols and collected fine amounting to Rs 30,100 in total.
According to a police report, Imphal West District police detained 36 people and 30 vehicles, of which 6 persons and one vehicle was detained by City Police; 7 persons and 1 vehicle by Imphal Police; 8 persons and 8 vehicles by Lamphel Police, 8 persons and 8 vehicles by Singjamei Police; 4 persons and 3 vehicles by Mayang Imphal Police, and lastly, 3 persons and 3 vehicles by Wangoi Police. The detainees were produced before the executive magistrate and made to pay a fine, amounting to Rs 3,400 in total.
In Thoubal District, 125 people and 37 vehicles were detained of which 40 people were detained by Thoubal police; 45 by Lilong Police; 17 by Yairipok Police; 10 by Khongjom Police, 6 by Heirok Police and 7 by Sekmai Police. The detained persons were made to pay fine amounting to Rs 4,200 in total.
Meanwhile, Imphal East District Police detained 25 people and 23 vehicles and collected a total fine of Rs 2,300. Bishnupur District detained 69 people and 29 vehicles, while collecting a fine of Rs 7,100 in total.
In Kakching District, 5 persons and 4 people were detained and a fine of Rs 1300 in total was collected. In Chandel District, 2 persons and 1 vehicle were detained and a fine of Rs 200 in total was collected; in Churachandpur District, 30 people and 30 vehicles were detained and a fine of Rs 9,00 in total was collected; in Jiribam District, 2 persons were detained and a fine of Rs 1,000 in total was collected; in Kangpokpi District, 27 people and 14 vehicles were detained; in Senapati District, 3 persons were detained and a fine of Rs 600 was collected, while in Tamenglong District, 3 persons were detained and a fine of Rs 1,000 was collected, the report informed.
