Philanthropic works continue in Noney, TML dist
TAMENGLONG, 6th Apr: In view of acute shortage of essential commodities in Noney Bazar due to the ongoing total lockdown, a team of philanthropists from Duiluan Part-2, Matung (Wairangba), Tamenglong district led by three members of village authority brought one Bolero pickup/Camper loaded with fresh vegetables and handed over to the members of Longmai Bazar Board, Noney on Monday.
Matung village is located about 15 km from Noney bazar.
Later with the help of volunteers of various civil organisations, Longmai Bazar Board distributed the donated items free of cost to the stranded migrant workers, poor and needy and those staying in rented houses. Meanwhile, all shops including essential commodities seller except medical stores were closed down in Noney and Tamenglong District with roads and streets remaining totally deserted. However, some trucks carrying essential commodities and those engaged in essential services were seen plying along NH-37 (Imphal -Jiribam Road).
On the other hand, Tamenglong Autonomous District Council chairman Namsinrei Panmei accompanied by ADM Tamenglong Kajaigai Gangmei and SP Tamenglong visited and assessed the situation of the Relief Camp set up for migrant workers from other states at Zeme Church's Office, Tamenglong Headquarters on Monday. The Relief Camp has been opened by Tamenglong District administration. Tamei MLA Awangbow Newmai along with a team of Manipur Police Fire Service from Imphal sanitised the whole Tamei Bazar and its adjoining area with Sodium Hypochlorite solution (bleach) by using a fire extinguisher vehicle on Monday.
As part of the effort to check spread of COVID-19 pandemic, sanitisation activities are also being carried out in Tamenglong and Noney districts by youth volunteers.
