CM launches Manipur Police patrol unit

IMPHAL, 4th Apr: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has launched a Manipur Police Patrol Unit which is meant for Imphal city during a solemn event at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Saturday.
The Chief Minister, who also holds the Home portfolio, handed over the keys to Imphal East SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam and Imphal West SP K Meghachandra to mark the symbolic launch of the unit.
For operationalisation of the Special Police Patrol Unit, 15 Innova cars have been procured by the Manipur Police Department. The Unit, which is to be operated within Imphal West and Imphal East districts, will be manned by select police officers and personnel of both the districts. This is a milestone for the Police Department and will go a long way in improving its overall efficiency and morale of the force apart from enhancing the image of Manipur Police. Manipur Legislative Assembly deputy speaker K Robindro; Khurai MLA L Susindro; Yaiskul MLA Th Satyabrata; DGP LM Khaute and other high ranking officers of Manipur Police were also present on the occasion.
After the launch, the Chief Minister along with a few dignitaries and senior officers including DGP went on a test drive in the city in the new patrol vehicles.
