State’s first COVID-19 patient tests negative

IMPHAL, 4th Apr: The first COVID-19 patient of the state, who hails from Thangmeiband Lourungpurel Leikai, has tested negative for coronavirus on Saturday while all 11 family members of the second Covid-19 positive man also tested negative.
According to JNIMS authority, the London-returned young woman who tested positive for COVID-19 on March 24 and was being treated at the hospital, was retested on Saturday. The test result came negative for coronavirus. As additional measure, she would be kept under observation for 24 hours and retested again.
Meanwhile, the results of 8 other individuals who were tested alongside with the patient have also confirmed negative for COVID-19.
On the other hand, the condition of the second COVID-19 patient, who is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS isolation ward is stable, RIMS authority informed.
All 11 family members of the second Covid-19 positive patient from Lilong have found to be negative of the virus infection as per the result of the medical test reports and subsequently all of them have been placed under Darul Uloom Madrassa Quarantine Centre on Saturday.
However, samples have been collected for testing from five close friends of the patient.
On the other hand, local people of Lilong, who are residing within a radius of 3 km from the residence of the patient, are still facing hardship due to shortage of essential commodities and water for drinking, washing utensils, bathing, etc. because of sealing of Lilong area and restrictions imposed by the Thoubal DC.
As part of the measures being taken up to prevent spread of COVID-19, 282 people have been quarantined at the various quarantine centres designated by the state government till date.
According to a report released by the state Health Department on Saturday, 282 people (180 male and 102 female) are being quarantined at various quarantine centres. In addition, one person has been admitted at JNIMS; 14 at RIMS, and 21 at Churachandpur District Hospital. Tests were conducted for 22 asymptomatic High Risk cases, while 114 people were put under surveillance after contact tracing. On Saturday, 16 samples were tested, all of which were confirmed negative, the report informed.
In all, 32 people are quarantined at TB Hospital, Imphal East District; 17 at H&FW Training centre, RD Wing Lamphel; 24 at Peace Hospital, Porompat; 36 at UNACCO School and 46 at Imphal Valley of Imphal West District; 14 at JNV, Bishnupur District; 2 at JNV, Chandel District; 21 at Circuit House, Churachandpur District; 20 at Jiribam; 2 at JNV, Kakching District; 2 at KGBS, Saikul, Kangpokpi District; 2 at Tengkonjang School, Noney District; 2 at DEIC and 8 at JNV Mao, Senapati District; 2 at JNV, Tamenglong District; 13 at Electricity House, Tengnoupal district; 12 at JNV and 22 at Darul Uloom, Lilong Turel Ahanbi of Thoubal District, and 5 at Ukhrul District headquarters.
