Constable netted in arms missing case

IMPHAL, 4th Apr: In connection with the arms missing case from 9 IR (Mahila) battalion arms kote, officers of the battalion arrested a constable of Manipur police on Friday and handed him over to Imphal police station for necessary actions.
According to police sources, the arrested constable has been identified as Athokpam Sanatomba (constable No. 1015004) of Top Awang Tinsid Road. A constable of Imphal East, he is currently attached to 9 IR (Mahila) Battalion as a fencing player of Manipur Police Sports Club.
Sources informed that he allegedly stole arms of a battalion driver, who deposited his service weapon in the battalion arms kote on April 2.
On the next day, the driver found his arms missing and the matter was reported to the battalion commandant. Later, CCTV footages established that Sanatomba was the culprit behind the act. Soon, officers of the battalion arrested constable Sanatomba on Friday and handed him over to Imphal police station. After registering a case against Sanatomba, he was produced before a court and granted police remand till April 8.
