Many donate to CM COVID-19 Relief Fund
IMPHAL, March 28: Donations to the newly created Chief Minister’s COVID-19 Relief Fund are pouring in from different quarters. Several individuals and organisations have contributed a total sum of Rs 22,56,000 to the Relief Fund on Saturday.
On the other hand, Tamei assembly constituency MLA Awangbow Newmai; Tamenglong ADC chairman Namsinrei Panmei; Chandel ADC chairman D Ringo donated Rs 1 lakh each to the Chief Minister’s COVID-19 Relief Fund.
Other individuals and organisations, who/which made donation to the relief fund included Liberal College Employees Association (Rs 3 lakh); Jain Samaj Rs 3 lakh; Sanathan Samaj (Rs 2 lakh); Manipur Secretariat Assistant Group (Rs 1 lakh); Shiv Sena Shang (Rs 1 lakh); Sikh Samaj (Rs 1,51,000); L Sharat Singh of Sarajeevan Enterprise (Rs 1 lakh); Koijam Gyaneswor Singh (Rs 1 lakh); Karam Kashi (Rs 1 lakh); and Yumnam Gunindro Mangang (Rs 5000).
Acknowledging the generosity and kind act of donors, the chief minister hoped that more organisations and individuals would come forward to fight collectively against COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Joint Teachers' Forum (JTF), which is an apex body of Primary and Higher Secondary lecturers under Education (S), has decided to donate one day’s salary to the CM COVID-19 Relief Fund.
In a joint release, forum conveners H Somorendro and M Jadumani informed that the decision was taken in view of the state government’s firm resolve and initiatives to contain further spread of COVID-19.
Announcing that the forum would continue to extend cooperation to the initiatives of the government, it further appealed to all the citizens to come forward and lend support and cooperation in the government’s endeavour to check the pandemic.
