No shame in being COVID-19 patient: Khurai body

Imphal, Mar 27: Maintaining that there is no shame in being a patient of COVID-19, Co-ordinating Body, Khurai has encouraged that patients should fight strongly without any fear.

Issuing a press release in this regard, assistant co-ordinator of the body M Loya Meetei cheered the first Covid-19 patient for coming out and fighting against the disease fearlessly.

Urging the government to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)adequately to those who are working at the frontline like doctors, medical staff, police personnel and staff of essential services, he pointed out that the frontline warriors might be discouraged as they are more liable to be affected by the disease if they didn’t wear such protective equipment.

Loya appealed to government to extend benefits under social welfare schemes such as old age pension and MGNREGS to the people as it would help in buying essential items. He also urged for providing rice under NFSA to the public.

Moreover, he also urged owners of shops and pharmacies to maintain a line with a gap of atleast one metre between costumers.

In order to reduce overcrowding while buying edible items and also to make vegetables available to the people of Khurai, Co-ordinating Body Khurai along with Phaoibi Enterprises, Langthabal would take up necessary steps for providing vegetables from Friday morning, Loya announced.
