Screening of 161 quarantined persons to begin from Mar 28

UKHRUL, Mar 27:
The District Medical Committee for Management of Coronavirus (COVlD-19) Ukhrul has announced that screening of 161 persons who have been placed under home quarantine will commence from March 28. The same exercise will also be carried out at different villages in the district.

According to the committee, a medical team will be conducting the screening at different localities of Hungpung and Hunphun villages in the district headquarters and that concerned local authorities have been directed to coordinate with District Surveillance Officer Dr Pamrella Grace (Contact No. 7629024136) for the details of screening date, time and place etc.

"For those villages under home quarantine, the screening will be done by a medical team of the respective PHC and PHSC medical staff, and Medical Officer in-charge will coordinate with the village chairmen/headmen for the screening at village level," it said.

So far, the committee has identified 10 different facilities with a total capacity of about 205 for quarantining persons with travel history, including Youth Hostel Phungreitang, Town Hall, Pettigrew College Multipurpose Hall, AYUSH Building (Old District Hospital), Kamphasom Community Hall, Awontang Community Hall, Phungreitang Community Hall, VVD Training Hall and TTA Complex Hamleikhong in the district headquarters.

Similarly, 10 isolation facilities having a total capacity of about 110 beds have been mapped out at District Hospital Ukhrul, CHC Somdal, Leishiphung Christian Hospital and PHCs of Jessami, Chingai, Khangkhui, Lambui, Talui and Teinem respectively.

All pharmacies within Ukhrul District have been instructed to open 24x7, the committee said, urging all drug stores to display their contact number for better compliance of the order and also for better public services.

Giving emergency guidelines, it said that all delivery cases, burn or accident related cases are to be referred to Leishiphung Christian Hospital and Comprehensive Hospital Services and Research Center while flu related cases like fever, cough, chest pain, sore throat, etc., will be treated at New District Hospital Ukhrul for better management of the Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Meanwhile, in view of the public facing difficulties in consulting non-flu and non-emergency illnesses in the district, All Tangkhul Medicos Association (ATMA) Ukhrul, has offered to provide a voluntary online health care service called 'Tele Medicine'.

In a statement, ATMA president Dr Sorengam informed that the tele medicine service may be availed via video or voice calls on 90893-54981, 70056-2 1664, 98629-8 7714, 84138-07095, 98624-91850, 69091-08288, 96124-86105 and 98628-16355 from 7 am to 1 pm and on 81318-34944, 93663-82750, 76410-41359, 95459-92072, 7005237410, 70054-98706 and 87299-93454 from 1 pm to 7 pm.
