Imphal, March 27: All Manipur Kidney Transplant Patients' Welfare Association has appealed to the state authorities to make special arrangement in order to ensure that the kidney patients do not develop health complications due to unavailability of medicines prescribed to them.

Informing that closure of pharmacies and cessation of inter-state transport activities as a consequence of the ongoing lockdown have led to shortage of medicines essential for patients who underwent kidney transplant, Association's general secretary Th Badan said that the patients need to mandatorily take specific medicines prescribed by the consultant doctors.

Unlike others, kidney transplant patients have to strictly adhere to the prescribed drugs and manufactured by specific companies, the secretary said and drew attention of both the chief minister and the health minister to ensure that the patients have convenient access to medicines during the period of lockdown enforced to contain spread of coronavirus.
