‘Exams of BSEM, CoHSEM not postponed’

IMPHAL, 16th Mar: Education (S) commissioner T Ranjit has informed that the theory and practical examinations of Class X, XI and XII conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) and Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (CoHSEM), would be held on the scheduled dates.
He further dismissed the fake order being circulated on social media and urged the people not to believe the same.
Addressing a press meet at the Council's office at Babupara here Monday, Ranjit said that as part of the preventive steps being taken up against COVID-19 outbreak, an order was issued on March 12 announcing closure of all government, government-aided and private schools till March 31. However, this does not include the scheduled examinations of BSEM and CoHSEM, as was clearly stated in the said order.
Unfortunately, some unscrupulous individuals made some modifications on a copy of the order, which contained his signature and uploaded the same on social media on Monday, stating that the examinations have been postponed indefinitely until further notice from CoHSEM.
Contending that the Council takes such matters seriously, as it has caused massive confusion among the students, parents and officials alike, the commissioner informed that an FIR has been filed to SP (CID-CB), Manipur to apprehend and punish those responsible. He then appealed to all concerned not to misuse social media other than for its intended purpose.
Meanwhile, CoHSEM secretary Ch Biren, in a statement, appealed to the people not to believe the fake examination postponement order being circulated on social media. The examinations will be held on the scheduled dates. Any clarification on the matter could be obtained from CoHSEM secretary, and the office of the Controller of Examination through phone numbers- 9862020417 and 8119043592, the statement added.
