Chandel rallies against bomb blast, submits memo to PM
CORRESPONDENT KAKCHING, 18th Nov:
Chandel based Anal civil society organisations on Saturday took out a protest rally against the act of exploding bomb at Mahamani village near Chandel district headquarters on November 13 in which two Assam Rifles soldiers were killed and six others injured.
The rally spearheaded by Anal organisations like Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA), Anal Students' Union, Anal Women Union, Anal Lon Chiefs' Association and Anal Christian Forum started from Mini Indoor stadium and proceeded to the office of DC Chandel where a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister was submitted.
Holding placards some of which read ‘We condemn the bomb blast,’ ‘We want peace,’ people marched through Japhou bazar en route to the DC office.
In the memorandum, Anal organisations lauded the sincerity of the Government of India for initiating the ongoing Naga peace talk and expressed hope that an amicable solution would arrive soon.
The recent bomb blast which occurred few days after chief minister N Biren visited Chandel district seems to be intended to derail the Naga peace talk when analysed politically, the memorandum said, adding that deployment of state forces in addition to the existing Assam Rifles in the aftermath of the blast will create unwanted consequences to students and civilians apart from disturbing peace and harmony.
