CHRONICLE BUREAU
IMPHAL, 17th Oct: The six chefs who are left in the fray for the coveted title of the 2nd SheChef 2019 competition produced an array of indigenous dishes on the second day of the event at TNL Ground, Ukhrul on Thursday. The competition is being organised as a part of the ongoing Shirui Lily Festival 2019 held at different venues in the district. SheChef (earlier known as ShiChef) is a cooking competition organised by Popa Restaurant in collaboration with Exotic School of Cooking as part of the festival. This year, the competition is exclusively for female chefs with a view to promote the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme. According to a statement of the organisers, the second day of the competition, which began from Wednesday, was organised under the theme ‘Fusion’. Contestants were to cook an indigenous dish with a slight twist of modern or contemporary cuisines. The contestants prepared indigenous dishes of pork, beef and chicken with their own twists.
As per the rules, the cooking time was only one hour followed by the judging round. The contestants explained their dishes, provided their recipes and also answered different questions from the panel of judges regarding their dishes.
The judges gave their respective observations on the improvement of the participants from day 1 while encouraging them to work harder. The competition will continue for two more days with different themes.
