30 cop trainees hospitalised of food poisoning

IMPHAL, 17th Oct: As many as 30 police personnel, who are undergoing training at Manipur Police Training College (MPTC), Pangei fell ill after consuming fermented soya bean (hawaichar) and they have been admitted to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) for treatment.
According to a report, around 30 police personnel consisting of constable 2013 batch, MR/IRB 2016 batch, waiting constable 2016 batch and constables recruited through die in harness scheme, who are undergoing training at MPTC consumed fermented soya bean bought from the family line of the college. Soon after consuming the food, all of them experienced high fever and stomach pain. They were admitted to the hospital one after another from around 2 pm. It is said that the poisonous soya bean sold at the family line was brought from nearby Haotal.
