No more unrestrained violence in state: Patel
IMPHAL, 17th Oct: Saying that politics is not about running after power to earn ministerial berths but serving the people by maintaining good governance, Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent Charge) Prahlad Singh Patel, who visited the state to inaugurate the ongoing Shirui Lily Festival, has claimed that there is no more irresistible violence in Manipur which is gifted with aesthetic nature.
Attending a reception ceremony organised by BJP Manipur Pradesh in his honour at its Canchipur office here on Thursday, Prahlad Patel mentioned that there was a time when people of other states were reluctant to visit Manipur due to volatile law and order situation but things have changed now as the state has made tremendous progress in sectors like transport and tourism in the past few years.
The Union minister said that the increasing number of tourist inflow into Manipur in the last two years is due to the notable improvement in law and order situation and development brought by the BJP-led government in the state.
The Union Minister exhorted the present government to keep focussing on bringing in more development for the welfare of the people and always abstain from exercising power excessively to fetch ministerial posts and reap personal gains.
The top priority of a government is to serve the people regardless of different political objectives and ideologies. Political leaders should be big hearted rather than be disheartened of losing ministerial posts. Getting and losing ministerial berths during the career of a leader is part of the political system. This should not be made the ultimate connotation of politics, Prahlad Patel asserted.
