Left parties hold protest in Thoubal
KAKCHING, 16th Oct: Left parties in Thoubal district organised a sit-in demonstration at Khangabok on Wednesday as part of the nationwide protest from October 10 to 16 over seven different issues.
Leaders and members of the Left parties like CPI, CPI-M, RSP and Forward Bloc participated in the protest.
Speaking at the protest site, CPI leader Dr M Nara said that Left parties carried out the nationwide protest demanding increasing public investment to address unemployment issue; minimum monthly wages of Rs 21,000; living wages for labourers who were terminated from service; and stopping privatisation of public sectors among others.
He alleged BJP led government of bringing dictatorship government in the country and making the government an institution run by businessmen.
CPI state secretary L Shotinkumar spoke on the Centre’s plan to implement Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and possible threat to the integrity of the state. He then called upon the people of the state to understand the threat poses by the BJP government and join hands against such forces.
CPI-M state secretary Ksh Shanta, RSP state leaders Manoranjan, Sharat Salam, and Forward Bloc state secretary K Gyaneswor also participated in the protest.
