AR attends to accident victims

IMPHAL, 13th Oct: Timely action and medical care provided by troops of Assam Rifles save the lives of six persons, including a toddler, when the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a ditch near Lokchao village along the Imphal-Moreh road on Sunday.
According to a PRO IGAR (S) release, an Omni Van moving from Wangjing to Moreh lost control and fell down into a nala near Lokchao village in Chandel district around 8.15 am.
The six occupants of the vehicle suffered grave injuries and were immediately evacuated by Meitei Council Moreh (MCM) president, Moreh to the Unit Hospital of Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles at 8.45 am. The unit medical team under Regimental Medical Officer (RMO) administered immediate first aid. Out of six persons, one Abhijit, a 13 months old baby was badly bleeding with injuries on her head, crushed injury of left dorsum of her hand and stab like injury on her arm. Two other persons, namely Thoinu (35) and Sarad (60) were also injured with fractures to their forearms and injuries to the wrist.
However, remaining three patients had minor injuries. They were also provided with necessary treatment at Unit Hospital and referred to RIMS, Imphal subsequently.
This prompt and swift action by the Battalion resulted in saving precious lives, the release said, adding that local authorities appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles.
