26th Guru Kritan concludes
IMPHAL, 13th Oct: The two-day long joint observance of 26th Guru Kritan organised by Guru Gulapi Nata Sankirtan Academy and Asheilup Manipur concluded at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound here on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, MP Dr RK Ranjan highlighted the uniqueness of Manipuri musical culture and the special position Nata Sankirtan holds in UNESCO World heritage.
While appreciating the national awardee gurus and performing artistes of Manipur, Dr Ranjan appealed to all to pass on the knowledge of cultural heritage to the younger generations before it loses its identity due to continuous waves of cultural imperialism.
As a part of the programme, Sangeet Natak Award recipient Heisnam Ashangbi (Thanga), Elangbam Chaobhal, Thokchom Chaotombi Singh, Maisnam Kaminikumar, Ningthouja Shyamchand, Thijam Surjamukhi, Golmei Aluna Kabui, Laipubam Bino, Dhani Maibi, Akham ongbi Lakshmi, Nongthombam Amusana, Sougrakpam Hemanta, Padmashree Wareppa Naba and Padmashree Dr Elam Indira were felicitated.
The programme concluded with a Kritan performance by Ibopishak and his team.
