Shortage of police personnel in Mizoram

AIZAWL, 13th Oct: Mizoram Director General of Police (DGP), SBK Singh on Sunday said that the state police faces manpower crunch as new recruitment did not correspond the number of policemen retired in a year.
He said that more than 300 policemen retired every year and the recruitment process is not only steady but could not be made instantly as a result of which there was huge shortage of policemen in the state.
Singh also mentioned this fact during his interaction with local leaders of Mamit town while paying a visit to Mamit police station on Saturday.
He said that the present strength of the state police is 9,000 while it is supposed to be at least 12,000. He added that the government will recruit 650 constables after four or five months from now.
The state police is also facing shortage of vehicles.
