DCs, SPs asked to scratch inscription

IMPHAL, 13th Oct: DCs and SPs of all the districts in the state have been instructed to remove memorial stones with the inscription “In defence of our ancestral land and freedom” being erected in some villages on the eve of the centenary celebration of Anglo-Kuki War.
A crash message from the chief secretary to all the DCs and SPs sent by joint secretary (home) Rehanuddin Choudhury on Sunday, said that the government has received reports of erecting such memorial stones with ‘objectionable’ inscription. Citing apprehension of breach of peace and possibility of law and order problem, the DCs and SPs have been instructed to remove such memorial stones containing the inscription and to take precautionary measures and ensure maintenance of law and order situation.
