‘Officers sans candidness hamper administration’
IMPHAL, 12th Oct: Nambol MLA N Loken has said that bureaucrat officers, who have poor social communication and poor interpersonal bonding due to their upbringing, often hamper administration.
Speaking as chief guest at the silver jubilee foundation day celebration of Chandreshwar Memorial English High School at Iramsiphai on Saturday, Loken asserted that he has been MLA of Nambol AC since he was 29 and remained as minister for three terms. In his political career, he came across several IAS officers and lack of understanding social issues and difference in opinion often cropped up with these officers, who only care about education in their school days.
Most of the officers are brought up in such a way that they do not know what is happening in their neighbourhood. Such persons are brought up by the parents just to excel in their academics and it leads to lack of communication with the society when they become administrative officers. As such, parents need to provide other aspects of education including the knowledge and understanding of the society, tradition, social trend and issues apart from the academic education, he contended.
The education system today has changed significantly as parents are busy in grooming up their children to provide them the best education option available no matter what the cost is. Children should understand the sacrifices their parents made and never forget their parents. At the same time, parents should not exert pressure on their children to get the goal they desire as it might bring negative impact to their performances, he cautioned and added that parents should also look for other areas where their children are interested.
He also urged the parents to be friendly towards their children to understand better their feelings and interest so that they could guide them towards a better goal of life.
Retired RFO Laishram Muhindro, police inspector Maibam Digbijoy, Samurou High School assistant teacher Athokpam Sanajaoba and social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram also spoke on several topics related with education, students, teachers, parents and society.
