ECI extends EVP review till November 18
IMPHAL, 12th Oct: The Photo Electoral Roll and Electors’ Verification Programme (EVP), which is being spearheaded by Election Commission of India (ECI) and scheduled to end on October 14, has now been extended till November 18. Meanwhile, Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) provided to every elector will be converted into 10 digit alphanumeric number to make the number lifetime for the concerned elector and this number will not change when the elector settles anywhere in the country. As per instruction served by ECI to chief electoral officers (CEO) of states on Saturday, the ongoing review of EVP has been delayed and scores of voters need to be verified while applications for inclusion, deletion and correction continue to pour in unabated. All these processes are to be completed before publication of draft electoral rolls.
