Oldest woman in Kangpokpi passes away

KANGPOKPI, 11th Oct: Dimting Hangshing, mother of ADC Sadar Hills chairman Haokholal Hangshing and one of the oldest women in Kangpokpi town, passed away around 5.40 pm on Thursday at Salem Inn, New Lambulane, Imphal.
She was 98. Her mortal remains were brought to her Kangpokpi residence late evening Thursday and burial ceremonial conducted on Friday.
Dimting was born in 1922 at Laikot village and married (L) Khatkhopao Hangshing in 1937 at Kangpokpi Mission Compound. The couple were involved in missionary work under Saikul Baptist Church till 1938, before Kangpokpi Mission assigned both to continue with humanitarian service at Alipur Mission Hospital in Cachar, Assam.
They returned back in 1950 at Kangpokpi Mission where the husband worked as Compounder at Mission Hospital, Kangpokpi. Out of three daughters and five son of (L) Dimting Hangshing, Haokholal is the eldest among the male siblings.
"Living till the age of almost hundred years is indeed a blessing of God and I am happy my mother could live her life to the maximum", said a visibly emotional Haokholal during the burial ceremony held his Ward No.1, Kangpokpi residence.
Many denizens of Kangpokpi mourned the demise of Dimting with civil society organisations conveying condolences. Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District, Thadou Inpi Kangpokpi District, KSO Sadar Hills, KTC, KWWO and KYU also issued separate condolence messages.
