Sensitisation cum training on child protection held
BPR, 11th Oct: District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Bishnupur organised a one-day sensitisation cum training programme for pradhans, up-pradhans and ward members on child protection at the Panchayat Resource Centre, Bishnupur on Friday. Bishnupur deputy commissioner Neeta Arambam, BDO K Jadumani and SP Priyadarshini Laishram attended the programme as chief guest, president and special invitee respectively
Addressing the gathering, DCPO Bishnupur N Nandashyam stressed the need for proper sensitisation on the various aspects of child protection among the people, especially the elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutes. Highlighting the schemes and initiatives taken up by the social welfare department for children, he urged all to protect children from any types of abuse and support them to become good citizens of the society in future.
DC Neeta Arambam said that the government is taking up every possible initiative for the three children of the woman victim of the October 6 Upokpi incident.
Priyadarshini also called for protection of children and their rights.
A video on POCSO Act entitled ‘Komal’ was also screened during the programme. Later, CWC Bishnupur chairperson P Premchand spoke on ‘POCSO Act 2012’, SDPO Bishnupur Luxmi Thingbaijam on ‘Role of Special Juvenile Police Unit’, and social welfare department programme officer Mala Lisam on ‘Integrated Child Protection Scheme’ as resource persons.
