Symposium on Gandhian Thought held
IMPHAL, 9th Oct: A symposium on the topic, ‘Gandhian Thought in today’s Social, Political and Economic scenario in our country’, was organised by Enlightened Knowledge (EK) Higher Secondary School for its Class XII and XII students at the school premises on Wednesday.
Speaking at the occasion, School secretary P Saratchandra said that the Gandhian thought is upheld not only in our country but also all over the world. Anyone who follows his example with discipline is bound to become good persons, who are unique. They would succeed in life as long as they follow the path of non-violence and truth, just as Mahatma Gandhi had done, he contended.
Remarking that the present politicians have ideals that are drastically different from Gandhiji’s teachings, Saratchandra emphasised on reintroducing the teachings to the younger generations to save the country. Even now, the country’s GDP is at its lowest and unemployment rates have gone up. Thus, we must strictly follow Gandhi’s teachings wholeheartedly for the future of the society, he asserted, while adding that this would help the students to become capable persons in future.
Later, cash prizes and citations were distributed to winners of the symposium. Mangsatabam Linthoingambi, Josiya Zimik and Thangoihao Sethou won the first, second and third position respectively.
