ANUL condemns Upokpi mob violence
BPR, 8th Oct: Apunba Nupi Lup (ANUL) Bishnupur has strongly condemned the mob violence incident that took place at Upokpi Khunou on October 6 while stating that it will take up necessary initiatives to prevent such inhumane incidents in future.
Addressing a press conference in its office premises here on Tuesday, ANUL president L Pramo said that everybody should know that they cannot take the law into their own hands.
Disturbingly, a man was also seen snatching clothes of the woman victim, which is a direct challenge to the whole women community and their modesty, said Pramo, while adding that ANUL will provide necessary assistance for ensuring punishment of all those involved in the incident.
She also termed the incident as a blot on the entire women community and women’s organisations in the state.
ANUL vice-president N Bimola maintained that the local people should have given the opportunity for fair trial instead of enforcing their diktat without any concern for the victims, especially the innocent girl. She then urged all concerned to work together so as to prevent similar incidents in future.
ANUL vice-president Kh Thambalmana, secretary M Anita, joint secretary N Bimola, and finance secretary T Bimol were also present at the press meet.
