3 more arrested in mob violence case

BPR, 8th Oct: With three more arrests made on Tuesday, Bishnupur police has so far arrested 14 people in connection with the October 6 mob violence incident which took place at Upokpi Khunou in Bishnupur district.
The three persons who were arrested on Tuesday around 11 am have been identified as Pukhrambam Sushila (43) daughter of Ibochou, Ningthoujam Tombi (43) wife of Ibohal and Maibam Memcha (59), wife of Ibomcha, all of Kha Potsangbam Mamang Leikai.
Meanwhile, all the 14 arrested people, which include 4 men and 10 women, were produced before the court of CJM Bishnupur and were remanded to police custody for seven days.
As per the report submitted by IO of the case to the court through APP, a team of Bishnupur police rushed to Upokpi Khunou at about 10.30am on October 6 upon getting a report that a man and a woman have been tortured by villagers and rescued them. Investigation about the incident too was initiated after registering an FIR at Bishnupur police station. Amidst the investigation, video clip of torturing both the man and the woman along with a minor girl went viral on social media including facebook and whatsapp. Based on the video clip, Section of 75 of JJ Act was added to the FIR already filed and continued the investigation and arrested 11 people involved in the mob trial on Monday.
Meanwhile, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Bishnupur P Premchand has served summon to Moirangthem Ningol Thokchom Ongbi Bijaya presently staying at quarter of Yingkoiong hospital, Upper Siang, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh to present before CWC Bishnupur (Bench of Judicial Magistrate First Class) by 11.30am of October 25 along with 10 years old daughter of the victim woman for illegally confining the minor girl.
