Kakching police issue advisories for Diwali

IMPHAL, 7th Oct: Keeping in mind the forthcoming Diwali festival and in order to ensure safe and joyous celebration of the festival, Kakching district police have issued an advisory to the people to stay away from gambling activities and directed the shopkeepers not to procure unauthorised firecrackers.
A press release issued by SP Kakching Victoria Yengkhom stated that all premises which sell firecrackers have to be authorised or licensed under Rule 84 of Explosive Rules, 2008 by the district magistrate, who may issue temporary license for possession and sale of fireworks. However, licenses are given only for sale of Indian firecrackers and as such necessary actions will be taken up against possession and sale of imported firecrackers, it said.
It also informed that indulging in gambling activities like Lagao is punishable under The Public Gambling Act 2867. Stating that gamblers are often linked with different forms of crime and disturb peace of the surrounding area, the district police informed all to stay away from gambling.
