Students warn of shutting down Moirang College

CORRESPONDENT
BPR, 7th Oct: Demanding the authority concerned to sanction approval for conducting examination for BSc Computer Science honours, students of Moirang College have threatened to shut down the college if the authority failed to grant the approval by October 10.
The college students staged protest in front of the college gate on Monday drawing attention of the authority concerned over the matter. According to the protesting students, the education director gave approval for opening computer honours course in the college and consequently, admission and class began from June/July this year with adequate equipment. Over 50 students are enrolled for the course.
However, the government has not granted approval for conducting examination for the course even though the last date for form submission is October 12, thus putting the academic career of the students in jeopardy, they said.
Demanding the government to grant approval for conducting the examination by October 10, Moirang College Students’ Union finance secretary Konthoujam Ajay warned of sealing the college from October 11 onwards if the government does not honour the proposal.
