Bodies condemn molestation, RIMS clarifies
IMPHAL, 5th Oct: Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) has strongly condemned the recent case of alleged molestation of a minor girl by a RIMS staffer on the pretext of conducting medical test in a laboratory. While extending solidarity to the victim’s family, an AMKIL statement demanded fair trial and speedy investigation into the matter by authorities concerned.
All Manipur Democratic Women’s Association (AMDWA) in its first secretariat meeting held after the 6th Manipur State Conference has also condemned the inhuman act of molesting a young girl by a technician in the ECG room of the Casualty Department, RIMS.
The meeting demanded that the culprit be punished in the most stringent form as per the law of the land for his act and the victim be compensated by the state government. The meeting also appealed to the authority of RIMS to take up necessary measures to prevent such types of incidents in future.
The meeting was presided over by newly elected AMDWA president Chanambam Sundari Devi, a release said.
Meanwhile, RIMS medical superintendent Prof Ch Arunkumar Singh has clarified that the accused person namely Th Suraj Singh of Keishamthong Moirangningthou Leirak, Imphal is an ECG technician of the casualty ward and not laboratory technician as has been reported in the media.
