Discussion on Manipur merger agreement held
JIRI, 5th Oct: A one-day discussion session on ‘Merger Agreement and its impact on present day Manipur society’ was held at the JMC community hall, Babupara, Jiribam, Saturday.
The discussion was jointly organised by Jiri Development Organisation (JDO), AMSU Jiri unit, Jiri Ima Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (JIMPAL), CADA Jiribam committee and Pari Puri Athouba Ningshing Lup, Jiribam.
JCILPS Manipur convener YK Dhiren, UPF president W Second, All Jiribam Working Journalists’ Union advisor Sarat Thokchom and Jiri college assistant professor Dr Arunkumar Mangang attended the discussion session and spoke as resource persons. They dwelt mainly on Manipur’s sovereign status before becoming part of India and the changing scenario and impact on Manipur society after becoming part of India.
The discussion session was attended by JDO president advocate L Romen Singh, AMSU Jiri unit advisor Elangbam Dewan Singh, JIMPAL president H Memcha Devi and Assam Indigenous People’s Protection Committee general secretary Seram Herojit as presidium members.
