Awareness on National SC&ST Hub in Manipur held
SENAPATI, 5th Oct: A one day awareness programme on National Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe Hub in Manipur was held at ADC conference hall, Senapati on Friday.
Manipur Industrial Development Corporation (MANIDCO) Limited organised the programme in association with directorate of trade, commerce & industries and National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Limited under the sponsorship of Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
ADC Senapati executive member (education) Thaikho Peter, MSME OSD G Kamei and MSME-DI Imphal assistant director TN Singh attended the programme as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Addressing the gathering, MANIDCO general manager A Priyokumar said that everyone in the society need to participate in this fast growing society so as to bring changes in social economy. There is a law where the government enterprise should procure some 20 per cent produces manufactured by SC and ST industrial units. For this reason, the SC & ST Hub was established by the Centre, he explained.
Speaking on the occasion, Thaikho Peter informed that the Hub was established in 2016 for a target period of five years till 2020 as soon as NDA government came to power under a policy to develop every nook and corner of the country. Whoever has interest in entrepreneurship could link up with the related MSME department, he said.
The ADC executive member also shared how different entrepreneurs in the district could not make any significant progress due to lack of maintenance. At the same time, he said that entrepreneurship could also help resolve unemployment problem and urged all to encourage local entrepreneurship in different trades.
G Kamei highlighted the importance of the Hub and how SC and ST entrepreneurs could take benefits from it.
DIC Senapati general manager Hijam Karuna also encouraged the local entrepreneurs to adopt different trades with patience and sacrifice for the betterment of all with an aim to give employment to others.
Technical session of the programme continued with speeches from MIDC chairman P Loken on ‘Concept of Entrepreneurship, Creativity and problem solving’, TN Singh on ‘MSME – Scheme for SC/ST and other entrepreneurs’, KVIC Imphal deputy director Salle Pao on ‘Role of KVIC for development of new enterprise for SC/ST’, MIDC consultant Y Raghumani on ‘Udyog Aadhar Memorandum filing’, NSIC Imphal deputy manager L Ibetombi on ‘Role of NSIC for development of new enterprises for SC/ST’, and SIDBI Imphal official G Ramkumar on ‘Roles of SIDBI in Manipur’ as resource persons. More than 60 local entrepreneurs related to different trades participated in the programme.
