JAC activists storm court during hearing

IMPHAL, 4th Oct: Demanding denial of bail to Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School founder cum principal Pheiroijam Landhoni and her daughter Romita, who worked at the school as co-ordinator, members of the joint action committee (JAC) set up against the mysterious death of Ningthoujam Babysana stormed the court complex of District & Sessions Judge, Imphal West, where the two suspects were produced for further bail hearing in the sensational case on Friday.
Teams of Imphal West district police swung into action and controlled the incensed protesters who were forced to retreat outside the court complex at Uripok.
During the bail hearing, the court heard the statements put forth by counsels of both sides and also the plea made by Babysana’s father who was represented by his counsel, to include him in the ongoing hearing. After comprehending all the statements made by the three counsels during the hearing which lasted around three hours, the court fixed October 7 for the next bail hearing of the two suspects in the case.
Mention may be made here that the High Court of Manipur had disposed a bail application filed by Landhoni and her daughter who are currently in judicial custody. Passing the plea to the District & Sessions Judge, Imphal West court, the High Court of Manipur had asked all the concerned to end the bail hearing within October 9.
