Encroachers told to vacate reserved forest

DIPR
IMPHAL, 4th Oct: DFO Central Forest Division Imphal has served eviction notice to 29 individuals, who allegedly encroached into Chingkheiching reserved forest land on Friday.
As per the eviction notice dated October 4, the individuals have been advised to submit explanation as to why action should not be taken against them and their illegal structures in the reserved forest land not removed. Out of them, 20 submitted explanations but the authority rejected their stand and disposed the contention on the ground of insufficient documentary support.
As such, the DFO served the notice to all the 29 individuals directing them to remove all the structures and materials of their possession and withdraw themselves from the illegal occupation within the reserved forest land on or before October 10.
The order further said that all constructions or deposits within the areas shall be removed without any further intimation and forfeited to the government and legal actions shall be taken up against them as per law if the individuals fail to comply.
It also stated that in the event of non-acceptability of the order, appeals shall be preferred with the chief conservator of forests within 30 days.
