CM promises upgrade of NIT Manipur
IMPHAL, 30th Sep: Chief minister N Biren has assured that he will mount pressure on Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry for ameliorating the condition of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur so as to make the institute to function effectively.
The chief minister gave the assurance during the 6th Convocation of the institute located at Langol here on Monday.
Speaking at the ceremony as chief guest, Biren promised that he will head to the national capital to exert pressure on the HRD Ministry for upgrading NIT Manipur which is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in the country.
He said that NIT Manipur is one of the best technical institutes of the country with the institute bringing laurels to the state by competing with other premier institutes of the country in the last nine years. The credit must go to the dedication of staff and hardworking students of the institute, he added.
Maintaining that the government since its formation has been making earnest efforts to upgrade infrastructure and efficiency of educational institutes of the state by taking up various measures such as ‘School Fagathansi Mission’, the chief minister observed that valuable knowledge gained by students of leading educational institutes including NIT Manipur would prove beneficial for the society.
Presided over by NIT Manipur director professor Goutam Sutradhar, the ceremony was also attended by IIT Guwahati director professor TG Sitharam and IIEST Shibpur director professor Parthasarathi Chakrabarti as guests of honour.
