For the first time, state government celebrated Irabot Day at Irabot Square at Lilashing Khongnangkhong with chief minister N Biren Singh as chief guest.

Different organisations of the hills and valley joined the common platform set under the leadership of Irabot and the present situation of Manipur would had been different had there been two/three leaders like Irabot, he said.
As announced by state government on September 30 last year, a statue of Hijam Irabot has been unveiled at Irabot Square today and this shows sincerity and commitment of the present government, Biren said adding that the present generation wants action oriented government.
According to Biren, facing the just unveiled Irabot’s statue towards the location of Manipur Legislative Assembly has many reasons. This was done after minute discussion with experts so that those who came out to serve people could understand Irabot’s thought when they got elected as public leader, he said adding that peace would return to the state when politicians begin to work towards realising Irabot’s dream.
Irabot Day is being celebrated widely in the state today but none follows the visionary leader’s thought, he said and asked if any farmer, officer, teacher and media are following Irabot’s ideology nowadays. This compelled state government to take a decision to celebrate Irabot Day, he said and appealed all the groups celebrating Irabot Day at different locations to join the state level celebration from next year onwards.
