Consultative meet on NMPO-Makhan conflict held
IMPHAL, 30th Sep: In sync with the suggestion of Naga People’s Organisation (NPO), Senapati to Maram Union and Mao Council for intervention in the impasse between NMPO and Makhan so as to come up with tangible solution, the second joint consultative meeting between the two tribal apex bodies was held Monday at Katomei village. The first round of consultation was held at the same venue on September 26. After a long discussion dwelling on multi-dimensional aspects of the matter, the meeting agreed to form a committee comprising five members each from both the Maram Union and Mao Council headed by respective tribe presidents. A meeting of the said committee is to be held on October 9 at Katomei, the meeting agreed. Towards this humble peace building efforts, Maram Union and Mao Council have appealed to NMPO and Makhan to restrain from any activities that may escalate or aggravate the situation. Further, both the apex bodies appealed for promoting conducive environment so that there is goodwill among all concerned.
