Councillors rebuked for false report to police

BPR, 29th Sep: Three councillors of Moirang Municipal Council have been denounced for allegedly feeding false report to police leading to arrest of a senior citizen, who reportedly asked to lay concrete or shingles instead of soil for repairing the road near Moirang Keithel auto parking.
Addressing media persons at his residence near Moirang Keithel on Sunday, the alleged victim named Hemam Biren (64) son of late Khoidong said that he simply raised concern over laying soil layers for repairing the road on the western side of Moirang Keithel auto parking on Saturday around 2 pm. He asked them to use shingles or concrete instead of mud considering the public inconveniences, he added.
However, the three councillors gave false report to police and the latter arrested him for raising the concern as a denizen of Moirang. He did not touch any of the three councillors or other workers engaged in the work on that day, Biren informed. Strongly condemning attitude and conduct of the three councillors, which he termed as an act of hurting his prestige, Biren appealed to all concerned to refrain from giving such misleading information to police or any authority in future.
