Shah summons state trio to resolve rebellion
IMPHAL, 27th Sep: The cliff-hanger that remains in the political crisis within the BJP government in the state is likely to be resolved on Sunday with BJP national leaders eyeing to resolve the matter once and for all to bring political stability in the state.
According to a reliable source, BJP president Amit Shah has summoned chief minister N Biren, works minister Th Biswajit and BJP Manipur Pradesh president K Bhabananda to discuss the matter in the national capital while expressing concern over the impact of the issue to the administration in the state.
The three BJP leaders of the state would be leaving Imphal for New Delhi on Saturday and they would be meeting Amit Shah on Sunday at 11 am. Following the meeting, BJP is likely to take a final decision on the over three-month old dissidence issue.
Mention may made that some dissident MLAs of BJP are still camping in the national capital. Some of them even met NEDA convener Himanta Biswa in Guwahati lobbying for his support in replacing chief minister N Biren. BJP national leaders had also sought individual opinions of almost all MLAs in the BJP led government in the state in the past. The party also entrusted an MP as the observer to explore ways for resolving the matter.
Following instructions from the Centre, the dissident MLAs camping in the national capital returned to Imphal and attended the two-day monsoon session of the state assembly and promptly returned to New Delhi.
Meanwhile, another source said that some MLAs are also likely to be heading for the national capital on Friday. Dissident MLAs who are in other parts of the country are also likely to gather at the national capital on Friday. Though the dissidents are expressing acceptance to appointing any of the MLAs as the CM of the state in place of Biren, they are also voicing support for either works minister Th Biswajit or speaker Y Khemchand as the CM. They are also getting ready to explore other ways to press their demands if Sunday’s meeting fails to sack Biren from the post of the CM, the source added.
