DFO briefs scribes on deforestation
CCPUR, 26th Sep: The newly deputed District Forest Officer (DFO), Churachandpur N Ganesh (IFS) met Churachandpur based media persons and held an interaction at his office chamber from 11.30 am on Thursday.
During the interaction, N Ganesh said that Churachandpur has been record breaker in terms of depleting forest coverage and highlighted his action plans to prevent deforestation. Talking at length on intense deforestation in the district, he said that the cause for this negative trend may be due to largscale poppy cultivation and Jhum cultivation. He stressed the need to replenish the barren area by taking up bamboo plantation which takes lesser time to get mature.
He also said that staff of forest department need to station at their respective place of posting for carrying out government plans and policies effectively
