Two hill MLAs in slugfest over CM’s replacement
IMPHAL, 25th Sep: Days after three rebel BJP MLAs met Governor Dr Najma Heptulla in the national capital urging her intervention in their political campaign for replacement of chief minister N Biren by another competent leader, Thanlon AC MLA Vungzagin Valte has contended that the political crisis surrounding the BJP-led coalition government in the state as claimed by the dissident MLAs would only waste time for all the elected representatives and that it would never bring any good to the state.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Wednesday, Vungzagin Valte reiterated that there is no question of leadership change in the BJP-led government which has brought many significant changes during its two and half-year rule under the dynamic leadership of chief minister BIren who has been working hard for all round development of the state.
He claimed that the incumbent government has been able to bring notable changes in the area of revenue collection, economic growth and infrastructure development and that’s why Biren was honoured as the best performing chief ministers among the BJP-ruled states.
He then asked the rebel MLAs to shun their political campaign which is only aimed at earning ministerial berths and instead co-operate with the chief minister for the betterment of the state which is progressing under the present government.
Asserting that central leaders are reposing full faith in the leadership of CM Biren, the MLA mentioned that he would not stand against the CM under any circumstances and contended that the political crisis would only spell doom.
Meanwhile, Tamenglong AC MLA Samuel Jendai has demanded Vungzagin Valte to issue a clear cut clarification through media for claiming that chief minister Biren is being rated as the best CM among the BJP-governed states and that there is no question of replacing the CM as expressed by central leaders.
Talking to this daily through telephone, Samuel Jendai, who is currently in New Delhi, maintained that the ‘ongoing’ political crusade for replacement of CM Biren has come into effect following the feeling of discontentment amongst the BJP MLAs over the working style of the CM.
He claimed that Vungzagin Valte was amongst those BJP MLAs who have been camping in the national capital to press the central leaders to change the CM but there was no contribution from the latter towards ensuring success of the political campaign.
Accusing Vungzagin Valte of being an informer of the government by side-lining other colleagues, Samuel Jendai also claimed that he knows who sponsors Vungzagin Valte.
He also dared Vungzagin Valte to name those central leaders who acknowledged Biren as the best chief minister of the BJP-ruled states and if the latter reveals the names then all the MLAs presently camping in the national capital would resign without any hesitation.
