MLA Awangbou cautions work agencies

TAMEI, 24th Sep: “I will not spare the incompetent contractors and engineers who neglect their duty in the construction of roads in my assembly constituency”, declared Tamei MLA Awangbou Newmai.
Speaking as the chief guest during inauguration of three playgrounds at Rianglong village in Tamei sub-division of Tamenglong district on Monday, he iterated that stern action would be initiated against anybody found neglecting his/her duty.
Stating that he will talk to the contractors and work agencies concerned to expedite the road construction activities once the rainy season is over, Awangbou informed the gathering that the 30 km road project between Konphung and Dutnong villages will be implemented under PMGSY phase-I with an estimated cost of Rs 19 crore.
Awangbou, who is also NPF Manipur president, appealed to the people to extend cooperation and support the government in any developmental works being taken up in his assembly constituency so that every work is completed within the specified date without disturbances.
The ground inauguration function held with Phungyar MLA K Leishiyo and ADC Tamenglong chairman Namsinrei Panmei as the guest of honour and special guest respectively, was also attended by ADC Tamenglong executive member TP Sanjeu, spokesman K Liangpibou, NPF Manipur working president Robert T Maram and secretary R Aripou.
The three public grounds were developed through financial and material assistance of Awangbou Newmai, Namsinrei Panmei and local ADC member K Liangpibou as well as contribution of the local people.
Of the three grounds development of which cost Rs 18 lakh, two were newly constructed ones and the other repaired.
In his address, MLA Leishiyo stressed the need to preserve rich culture and identity of every community and also exhorted the youths to work hard for achieving their life goals in diverse fields including in sports.
He also called upon the youngsters to take sports as a serious profession so as to change the concept among the hill people that sports are socialization events.
