AIMS warns against unfair distribution of LPG cylinders
IMPHAL, 24th Sep: While urging authority concerned to look into unconventional distribution of LPG refills by distributors/dealers in the state, Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) warned of checking gas agencies which distribute refilled gas cylinder against IOC norms.
Addressing media persons at its office Tuesday, AIMS vice president Saikhom Premchand said that it has received reports about distribution of LPG refills by some gas agencies against IOC guidelines and norms.
While alleging that some gas agencies in the state distribute leaked, expired and underweight refilled LPG cylinders to customers, Premchand pointed out that this practice is dangerous and could even claim precious human lives apart from enhancing chances of causing unwanted fire. He observed that state weight and measures department should look into distribution of less weigh LPG cylinders by gas agencies and demanded that IOC take strict action against gas agencies which fail to conform to guidelines and norms.
While reiterating that AIMS would start keeping strict vigil against gas agencies failing to maintain IOC norms and guidelines, Premchand appealed to public to inform the students’ body through the helpline number 8259879372 if any gas agency distributes leaked, expired and less weigh LPG refills.
