“No problems within party”
IMPHAL, 24th Sep: Chief Minister N Biren has denied any problems within the state BJP but stated that discussions are being held with the Centre with regard to reshuffling of the cabinet.
He made the statements to newspersons after a reception function hosted in honour of newly joined members of BJP held at the party’s office at Canchipur here Tuesday. Responding to queries if the photo uploaded on the Manipur Governor’s social media account of the three state MLAs calling on Dr Najma Heptulla meant problems exist within the party; Biren denied any such issue, adding that one of the MLAs even stated to a local daily that it was a normal call on the Governor. If the party had problems, the state and the people would not have received the recent awards, he contended.
Informing that MLAs from other political parties have made approaches to join BJP, the CM said that being a national party, the matter is being discussed with centre and would only proceed after it (centre) gives its approval. Discussions are also being held with the centre with regard to reshuffling of ministers, he added.
Regarding Congress party, Biren said that since BJP took over the government, Congress has been continuously squawking that the BJP-led government would soon collapse. They said the same thing when BJP took charge for the second term and it is likely that they would say the same thing when BJP retains power in the next term as well, he remarked.
