State youth to address Global Peace Summit
IMPHAL, 23rd Sep: In a remarkable feat, Rajesh Ningombam of Singjamei Khongnangpheidekpi, Imphal West district has been selected to take part in the Global Peace Summit to be held at Kurdistan, Iraq from October 9 to 10 wherein he would represent India and address on the theme “Peace by Dialogue”.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Monday, Rajesh Ningombam informed that delegates from 50 countries would participate in the international summit which aims at discussing the pivotal role of youth in ensuring peace and social justice across the world.
He further informed that the summit will also hold debates on myriad issues besieging the world and deliberate on long-lasting solutions to these issues. He observed that participation of youth in exploring ways to find solutions to core social issues concerning the country are minimal when compared to other countries and above all there is no separate commission for empowering youth in the country. He asserted that it is high time to encourage youth of the country so that they could come up with various innovative ideas and compete with energetic youth of other countries in this present era of globalisation. Rajesh opined that time has come for the authority concerned to initiate certain measures to tap the hidden potential of the youth and exercise it for the betterment of the society.
