State Museum, Rotary Club conduct painting competitions

IMPHAL, 22nd Sep: As part of the golden jubilee celebration of Manipur State Museum to be held on Monday, a state level painting competition for students reading in Class III up to Class XII was conducted at the State Museum complex here on Sunday wherein around 160 students participated.
The competition was held in three categories and on three different themes – “Daily Life” for Group A students, “Folklore of Manipur” for Group B students and “Unique Culture of Manipur” for Group C students. Prizes to the winners in each category will be presented during the golden jubilee celebration which would be attended by Art & Culture minister L Jayantakumar as chief guest; commissioner Bobby Waikhom as president and A Shivdas Sharma as guest of honour.
Rotary Club of Imphal RI District-3240 also organised an on the spot painting competition for students at Rotary Multi Service Centre, Mantripukhri here on Sunday.
In the first category for Class III -V, Thiyam Jeshina of RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya stood first while Sunaina Saikhom and Kh Chaoremba of Kendra Vidyalaya No 1 were placed second and third respectively.
In the second category for Class VI-X, L Rohit of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School secured the first position, Venish Keisham of Pitambara English School second while Wangkhei High School’s Ribirthson won the third prize. Consolation prizes were also awarded to two students in each category.
