Cross country race, rally highlight welfare schemes
Thoubal/Kakching, 21st Sep: District Administration of Thoubal organised a cross country race that covered various parts of the district to raise awareness among the public on the myriad of schemes launched by Government of India for the benefit of its citizens.
The race was organised Saturday with the aim to popularise the schemes launched by Government of India namely - Poshan Maah, Swachata Hi Seva, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Ayushman Bharat Pakwada and other programmes like Electors Verification and 7th Economic Census. The race was flagged off by MLA of Wangjing Tentha AC Paonam Brojen from Thoubal Municipal Council complex and ended at Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports Complex, where a public event was conducted.
Apart from MLA Brojen, who attended the event as chief guest and deputy commissioner of Thoubal, N Bandana, presided over the programme while Thoubal Zilla Parishad adhyaksha Hasina Begum and SP Thoubal Dr S Ibomcha were the guests of honour.
Speaking at the event, Paonam Brojen expressed gratitude to the district administration of Thoubal for organising such event to create awareness on the various schemes and programmes launched by the Government of India for the development of its citizens.
Delivering the presidential address, deputy commissioner N Bandana expressed her desire for widespread awareness on the schemes and provisions offered by the Government for the benefit of the public, especially among those belonging to marginalised section of the society. She also commented on the increasing irregularities in several aspects of development between male and female, which she maintained has seen a rise in the recent years.
Moreover, Quiz and Painting competition themed on the Schemes launched by Government of India were conducted and prizes distributed to the winners and runners ups of the cross country race.
In Kakching district, an awareness rally was carried out to promote and create further awareness on the on-going nutrition month – Rashtriya Poshan Maah.
In continuation of the observance which will continue for the whole month of September to create awareness on holistic Nourishment, the mass rally was taken out in Kakching district headquarters on Saturday.
The mass rally which was jointly organised by District Administration of Kakching and ICDS Kakching was flagged of by Kakching district deputy commissioner Valentina Arambam from her office complex.
The participants marched up to Kakching Bazar before returning to its starting point.
CDPO of ICDS Kakching, S Milankumar, office staff, Anganwadi workers, helpers and public of the area took part in the rally.
