Tension grips Maram Bazaar

SENAPATI, 19th Sep: Tension erupted again at Maram Bazaar as families affected by the Makhan Khuman incident of September 17 tried to erect tents at the same spot of the vandalised houses near the bridge with materials provided for relief on Thursday.
Maram people including men and women, both young and old, gathered at Maram Bazaar to vandalise the reconstruction. NH-2 was also blocked briefly due to the tension. However, with timely intervention of district administration, security personnel and CSOs of the district, the mob was prevented from entering Makhan Khuman.
Speaking to media persons, DC Senapati Somorjit Salam informed that the situation is under control now and appealed to both parties to peacefully resolve the issue. Stating that use of force could never bring any solution, he urged all concerned to help restore peace in the area.
The district administration also imposed restrictions under CrPC 144 in the areas between Makhan and Maram along NH 2.
