KVKs organise tree plantation programmes

IMPHAL,18th Sep: KVKs of different districts organised tree plantation programme on Tuesday with the message of saving the endangered environment through community participatory approach.
In Churachandpur, KVK Churachandpur organised the programme at its office premises at Pearsonmun with active participation of 102 progressive farmers from different villages of the district. Saplings of orange (Khasi Mandarin) and tree bean were distributed to the farmers while 65 orange and tree bean saplings were planted within the KVK office premises.
ADC member T Khaikhomang, KVK CCpur head & senior scientist Dr S Roma, CTO (animal science) Dr W Rajen, SMS (agroforestry) Bs Hmannihring Anal, SMS (horticulture) P Chandramani, SMS (plant protection) Dr N Johnson, farm manager L Basil, and programme assistant Manngaikim attended the programme.
Later, a demonstration on different improved agriculture machineries and technologies was organised for the farmers as part of Krishik Gosti.
KVK Chandel also organised the programme at Modi village with DC Chandel Krishna Kumar and Modi village chief KL John Mota attending as chief guest and guest of honour respectively. Altogether 123 farmers participated in the programme and 1000 tree bean saplings were distributed among the villagers.
KVK Hengbung also organised the tree plantation cum Krishak Gosthi at KVK Campus Hengbung on Tuesday. DFO Senapati John Sha and KVK Hengbung head & senior scientist Dr N Jyotsna attended the occasion as chief guest and president respectively.
Fruit bearing saplings were planted at KVK campus in the presence of the participating farmers to encourage and motivate them to plant trees around their localities. About 1023 fruit-bearing saplings were planted while other agriculture inputs were distributed to all the participating farmers during the event.
