Bodies back STDCM stand on ST status

IMPHAL, 16th Sep: Several clubs, associations and organisations of the state continue to pledged support to the Scheduled Tribe Demanding Committee Manipur (STDCM) in the latter’s campaign for ensuring grant of ST status to Meitei/Meetei community under the Indian constitution.
Educational Cultural and Health Organisation (ECHO), Bishnupur, in a release issued by its secretary Modhumangol Thiyam, stated that the movement being led by STDCM to include the Meitei/Meetei in the Scheduled tribe list of Indian Constriction is an important struggle to ensure the survival of the indigenous population of the state. The secretary also conveyed that ECHO will be support the committee in the struggle and will respect each and every decision taken by them.
Moreover, Youth Bright Star Club, Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak, Nongmaithem Leikai, in a release made by general secretary of the club N Lucky, stated that the club stands in full support of the demand of STDCM and will be honouring every decision taken by the committee for the cause.
